Petit Chablis, Burgundy
Guillaume Vrignaud claims "a wine is born in the vineyard, not in the cellar", and his team follows his lead at their organic vineyard outside the village of Fontenay-près-Chablis. Planted over 29 hectares on the Portlandian and Kimmeridgian stratas, this vineyard only makes white wines.
The Petit Chablis appellation, created in 1944, lies on both sides of the Serein river. Known for its limestone soil with patches of sandy pockets, this wine is a pale gold color with fresh, fruity and citrus notes.
