The Vrignaud family has been growing vines in Fontenay-près-Chablis for five generations. Guillaume Vrignaud joined the family domaine in 1999 and convinced his father to leave the local cooperative, building their own cellar to start bottling wine under their own name. Since then the estate has grown from 12 to 28 hectares, all certified organic since 2009, spread across a mix of Kimmeridgian limestone, brown clay, and Portlandian soils.

This 2023 bottle falls under the Petit Chablis appellation, the outermost and most exposed of the Chablis designations, typically planted on higher, cooler plots surrounding the main Chablis vineyards. It's made from 100% Chardonnay, the only grape permitted here, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and left on its lees before bottling to build texture. Expect the region's signature chalky minerality alongside notes of green apple, citrus, and white flowers, with a bright, taut structure and little to no oak influence.

The result is an entry point into real Chablis character at a more approachable price point, made by a family with generations of experience farming this cool corner of Burgundy.
