Franck and Betty Millet have run their family estate in Bué since 1991, continuing three generations of winegrowing in one of Sancerre's most respected villages, alongside Chavignol considered among the appellation's best terroirs. The estate has grown from 7 to 23 hectares, farmed with hand harvesting and a rigorous summer green harvest to control yields, with grapes picked early each morning to preserve freshness before pressing.
This 2022 bottle carries the Sancerre appellation, best known worldwide for Sauvignon Blanc but also permitted for reds made from Pinot Noir, grown on the region's limestone-rich clay soils. Made entirely from Pinot Noir, it's vinified with careful attention to preserving freshness and elegance rather than pushing for weight or extraction. Expect a lighter-bodied red with bright red cherry and berry fruit, soft, fine tannins, and the same mineral, chalky undertone that defines the appellation's whites.
The result is a rare chance to taste Sancerre through a different lens, elegant and precise, from a couple who have spent over three decades proving the appellation's range extends well beyond white wine.
