Wine Description
Dating back to 1507, Château du Rocher stands among the oldest family estates in Saint-Émilion, with more than five centuries of continuous winemaking. Today, under the guidance of the Comtesse B. de Sercey, the 16 hectare vineyard thrives on the south-facing slopes of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, where clay limestone and iron-rich soils nurture vines averaging 60 years of age, including prized centenary parcels. Certified organic since 2012, the estate blends primarily Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, aging the wine in French oak for added refinement.
The 2020 Saint-Émilion Grand Cru reflects this heritage with ripe black cherry, plum, and cassis layered with violet, cocoa, cedar, and hints of graphite. Supple tannins and balanced acidity frame a polished, age-worthy Bordeaux that offers both immediate appeal and the structure to evolve beautifully for decades.
