Domaine de Font-Sane has farmed in the heart of Gigondas since 1860, beneath the limestone cliffs of the Dentelles de Montmirail that give this cuvée its name. Véronique Cunty-Peysson, who took over the 16-hectare estate in 1986, handles the winemaking while her husband Bernard manages the vines and their son Romain runs the commercial side. Terrasses des Dentelles is the domaine's more limited, elevated cuvée, sourced from a specific parcel selection farmed at low yields.
This 2022 bottle carries the Gigondas appellation and is built from roughly 72% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 3% Mourvèdre, aged 12 months in barrels ranging from two to five years old, longer and more deliberately than the estate's Tradition cuvée. Expect a deep, bright garnet color, a nose of black fruit and spice with subtle vanilla notes from barrel aging, and an ample, round, fleshy palate with fine tannins and an elegant, smoky, extended finish.
The result is Font-Sane's more refined, age-worthy expression of Gigondas, showing real precision and length alongside the power the appellation is known for.
