Domaine de la Bonserine is a historic estate in Ampuis, at the heart of the northern Rhône, first planted in the 1950s and revived in 1961 by Charles Mandelstam and a group of passionate wine lovers. Since 2006 the estate has been owned by E. Guigal, who has preserved its original philosophy, and each parcel is still vinified separately using only native yeasts present on the grape skins, a deliberate choice to let the terroir speak for itself.
This 2022 bottle carries the Condrieu appellation, the original home of Viognier and one of the smallest, most prized white wine zones in France, with vines grown on steep granite terraces and a unique topsoil of decomposed mica called arzelle. Made from 100% Viognier sourced from parcels with three distinct soil types, it's rich and supple yet retains real freshness and minerality. Expect an exuberant nose of violet and white flowers layered over ripe apricot, with an ample, silky palate and real aging potential.
The result is a genuine expression of one of the Rhône's most singular appellations, elegant and perfumed, from an estate with over sixty years of history behind it.
