This vibrant 2023 Mâcon Rouge from Thierry Drouin is a delightful and expressive Gamay. Sourced from vineyards with "Granite" in their name, the wine shows the influence of this unique terroir, resulting in a vibrant and mineral-driven character. On the nose, it offers a fresh burst of strawberry and cherry with intriguing background notes of potting soil and cocoa. The medium-bodied palate is round and juicy, showing a medley of red fruit flavors, from strawberry bubble gum and red currant to a hint of cola bubble gum. A distinct irony and meaty minerality from the granitic soils provides a savory counterpoint to the fruit. The wine concludes with a long, clean, and fresh finish.
