Château Meyre's origins trace back to the Middle Ages, when the first vines were planted on the estate; by the late 19th century, it had become one of the Médoc's storied properties, later owned by Colette Lenôtre, wife of the famed chef-caterer. The Hetrakul family, from a distinguished Thai lineage, acquired the château over two decades ago and pushed the estate toward organic farming, a conversion completed in 2011. The vineyard spans 18 hectares in the Haut-Médoc appellation, with an additional 2 hectares in the prestigious Margaux terroir, and was awarded Cru Bourgeois Supérieur status in 2020, recognition of the estate's rising quality.
"M" de Meyre carries the Haut-Médoc appellation and is built from a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged first in stainless steel before spending six months in French oak barrels. Merlot lends the wine its round, fruit-forward core, while Cabernet Sauvignon supplies structure and grip, together producing a wine designed to age gracefully over 8 to 10 years. Expect a ruby color, aromas of red and black fruit, tobacco, and subtle earthy notes, with a supple, well-balanced palate.
The result is a classic, age-worthy Haut-Médoc from a historic estate now firmly on the rise under organic stewardship.
