Domaine de Matignon is a family estate now in its third generation, run today by siblings Hélène and Yves Matignon in the commune of Martigné-Briand, one of the most active winegrowing communes in Anjou. The estate spans 38 hectares planted primarily with Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, and Grolleau, farmed on a mix of schist, marl, and clay-limestone soils under a program of sustainable, "lutte raisonnée" viticulture.
This Cabernet d'Anjou is a sweet rosé, made from a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a residual sugar level of 28g/L that gives it its characteristic gentle sweetness. Cabernet d'Anjou is one of the Loire's signature styles, historically among the most popular sweet rosés in France, built to balance ripe fruit sweetness against fresh, lively acidity. Expect a vibrant pink color, aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and red currant, and a soft, fruity palate with just enough acidity to keep it from feeling cloying.
The result is a classic, easy-drinking Anjou sweet rosé, a style long beloved across the Loire and well suited to warm-weather sipping or a not-too-serious dessert pairing.
